This is because of that feature array formulae open up, where one formula can drive the values in a whole series of cells. If you're less lucky, the formula will still result in a number. They'll either realise it must have been an Array formula (and use CSE), or they'll ask someone sitting near them what's going on, who will probably introduce them to the wonderful world of CSE and those squiggly brackets that you just can't type by hand, and probably show them a basic example to boot. If they forget to, if you're lucky, the formula will resolve to #VALUE! or similar.
